The DDD is the assumed average maintenance dose per day for a drug used for its main indication in adults. It is a measure of drug consumption. The DDD provide a fixed unit of measurement independent of price and dosage form (e.g. tablet strength).

DAYS OF THERAPY (DOT)
DOT is the total number of days of an individual antibiotic; it is independent of the dose and tracks a duration of treatment with an antibiotic regardless of dose.
