INJECTABLE ANTINEOPLASTIC OR IMMUNUSUPPRESSANT

1) These are to be compounded in the Biological Safety Cabinet in the Sterile IV chemotherapy room using Equashield closed system transfer device or clave system
2) PPE Required:
  • Beard cover if required
  • Face mask
    • If you are going to raise the BSC front shield you must wear a fit-tested N95 mask or PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator)
  • Head cover
  • Shoe cover followed by water-resistant shoe covers
  • 2 HD gowns or 1 non-HD gown & HD gown ovetop
  • 2 pairs of sterile nitrile gloves
3) Wipe BSC cabinet work surface with HD Clean wipes then place chemotherapy prep mat in the hood
4) Medication vials will be wiped down with Sterile 70% Isopropyl Alcohol prior to being placed in BSC, unless the medication vial is in the original manufacturer box then vial must be decontaminated with HD Clean wipes. Throw out chemotherapy prep mat and outer gloves after decontamination. Place a new pair of gloves on and new chemotherapy prep mat in the hood.
